130 Mile Bike-a-thon

So on Friday me and The LZR started our 130 mile journey by running out of petrol right next to a car cleaning garage and were rescued by an old man called Reggie who took me in his squeaky clean van to the nearest petrol station to pick up some magic juice.

We then ran over a dead badger at 50mph and actually managed to get some air as if the badger was some kind of twisted skate ramp and I was an extreme motorcycle sports fanatic. Despite the grotesqueness of the situation I couldn't help chuckling to myself for ages afterwards.

After we'd spent a while on the road together my little bike told me her name was Lizzie and so she was christened Lizzie the LZR. I spent a good deal of the journey chuckling (yes, to myself) over Austin Powers' 'Mini me, stop humping the laser.'

We trundled on as the sky turned darker and the rain clouds rolled in, and managed to avoid getting hideously lost, but then turned onto an A road that was more like a four lane motorway and had to grit my teeth and remain calm while 3 lanes of traffic whizzed past me.

We arrived home sopping wet and aching, but buzzing, to find that my amazing flatmate had run me a hot bath & cooked me dinner.

Thanks M and thanks Lizzie for getting me here safe and sound.

Being Emma Watson's Double

Today I was pretending to be someone else being someone else. I was being Emma Watson's Double in the film My Week With Marilyn. It was very surreal watching a film inside a film and very inspiring to see how Michelle Williams totally transformed herself into Marilyn. I definitely learned a lot today.

Rights of Passage Dress and Shack

Just a few images of the amazing shack the boys built from scratch and some of my dress I made for my character in the film.

Flapper Style

Making a flapper dress for a 1920's night for my friend's birthday, all dark blue soft satin and cream, and if I get time loads of beading on the bottom. I'm guna try to keep it quite authentic with the right length for the period and the right quality of fabrics etc. I'll post pictures when it's done.

The Lazer - My New Bike

Well, her numberplate is LZR, how could she be called anything else other than The Lazer.

I just got al the way down into Stroud before I realised I didn't have my L plates on, so had to do a quick stop at Halfords where the nice man, who recognised me from my bar maid days (such is the way of small town life), helped me to work out a way of fixing them on. They don't make it easy!

Robin's Scooting Clip

A vid of my lil bro on a mission in London.

Also, the fishing line arrived today for the bottom of my Lillie costume. Can't wait to finish it off. Tomorrow maybe.

Masquerade Dress

I just found some images of the dress I made from my design ages ago. I remembered I put the drawing up so why not also show the fruits of my labour.

Downton Abbey

Loving Downton Abbey so far. Can't wait to make the next series. Fingers crossed.

Rights of Passage Costume Design

Costume design for my etherial character Lillie for Tim Willrich's Short Film, Rights of Passage, which will be shot in early November.

Cardboard City

Just had the funnest shoot of my life. Spent all day laughing and trying to keep a straight face in during the more serious scenes, but between talks of inappropriate cats, and crayons from the little bro (and honorary assistant director for the day), chuckling directors, and dodgy improv involving the words 'easy-peasy' coming out of my mouth, and my fellow actor revealing that he would love to have a hareem of cakes and women a straight face was an achievement to be proud of.

Suzanna's Skirt and Jacket Details

Tartan Dress

The (almost) finished piece, but as usual only able to get a snap of it on me as we had to exchange in secret as the dress was a surprise for her husband, who was worried that his wife didn't have anything lovely to wear for their annual company ball.

Concerto Fashion Show

I just found these images on my computer of the Fashion/Dance show I styled when I was doing work experience with Studio Boardman (creative events company) a couple of years ago. The theme was based on three tube lines, the central line (red), the Northern line (Black), and the Jublilee line (silver/grey - not shown). The central line outfits were pretty and flouncy to reflect all of the high street retail that is found along the central line. The Jubilee line was statuesque and grand, and the Northern line was a bit more grungy and flamboyant to reflect the likes of camden that can be found along the line.

Mostly, the pieces were pulled from the costume cupboard but I hand made a couple of the pieces, including the red hat and the satin and net bustle skirt.

New Label

I've been wanting to do this for ages but I've never had the spare white ribbon handy when I've finished a piece. I wanted it to be free hand and unique as the business is all about bespoke, and to reflect the name. It's kinda cute.

Dancewear - A few designs I've been working on
